Coaching
Coaching processes are interwoven throughout our programs from the beginning to when the immigrant professional is hired or promoted to a meaningful job. Every immigrant professional is assigned a personal Coach, mentor, and instructor when they start working with us. From this beginning on, training, coaching, and mentoring are combined to (a) sustain the vitality of the immigrant professional, (b) consolidate learning to help them align their strengths to future career opportunities, (c) help articulate their skills and value-add with confidence and authenticity, and (d) facilitate self-discovery, defining future options and alignment, personal branding, approaching the market, and communicating value.
Research has shown that people who receive customized career coaching have two to five times more chance of getting a job than those who do not.
Coaching is provided by a network of certified coaches who have volunteered to help our community of job seekers. Coaching activities are included in the self-paced training, leveraging writing exercises and assessments. Studies have shown that expressing oneself in writing form can help with health, coping, and increased self-awareness. Empirically validated reflection exercises and assessments facilitate the coaching and development process. Examples of such activities include: the 5 Ways of Being, prioritizing positivity, values exercises, reflected best self, the VIA survey, CV development & LinkedIn, learned optimism, and a 30-second commercial. 1:1 in-person, video, or telephone coaching sessions are organized once job seekers have graduated from their training. The coach documents and keeps a record of job seekers’ progress until they have secured a meaningful professional job.
